Ingredients for Litti chokha Recipe

  • 0.33 Cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.67 Tbsp ghee
  • 0.17 Cup tsp salt
  • 0.11 Cup lukewarm water
  • 1/4 Cup sattu (flour of roasted chana dal
  • 0.17 Tsp salt (as taste)
  • 1/25 Tsp Hing
  • 1/25 Tsp tur meric powder
  • 0.17 Tsp red chilli
  • 0.33 Tsp mango powder (amchoor)
  • 0.33 Tsp grated ginged
  • 0.33 Tsp green chilli
  • 0.33 Tsp ghee
  • 0.08 Cup water (approximately)
  • 0.67 Tsp grated ginger
  • 0.67 Tbsp finely chopped green chillies
  • 0.67 Tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 0.67 Tbsp olive oil or mustard oil (I prefer olive oil)
  • 0.67 Tbsp ghee or clarified butter for serving the Litties
  • 0.33 Cup medium size potato
  • 0.67 Pieces medium size tomato
  • 0.33 Tsp salt
  • To Taste Spices
  • 0.08 Tsp black pepper
  • 0.33 Tsp lemon juice

Directions: Litti Chokha Recipe

  • STEP 1.For Potato Chokha
  • STEP 2.Add all the remaining spices with mashed potatoes, salt, pinch of black pepper, lemon juice, ginger, cilantro and oil, mix it well. Potato Chokha is ready, set aside.
  • STEP 3.For Tomato Chokha
  • STEP 4.To prepare the Tomato Chokha add the spices to mashed tomatoes about 1/2 tsp salt, pinch of black pepper, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1 Tbsp green chilli. 1 Tbsp cilantro and 1 Tbsp of oil mix it together. Tomato Chokha is ready set aside.
  • STEP 5.To Make Dough
  • STEP 6.Mix the flour, salt and ghee. Add water slowly to make dough. Dough should be firm but do not knead the dough. Cover the dough and let it sit for at least fifteen minutes.
  • STEP 7.Filling
  • STEP 8.Mix all the ingredients together except water, sattu, salt, asafetida, turmeric, red chilli powder, mango powder, ginger, green chilli, and ghee, now add little water to make firm dough, dough will be little crumbly.
  • STEP 9.Making Litti
  • STEP 10.Pre-heat the oven at 400 degree Fahrenheit. I am using a toaster oven or you can also use oven.Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll them into balls. They will not be very smooth dough ball. Also, divide the filling in 8 parts filling should be little smaller then dough balls.Roll the dough balls into 3-inch circle. Place one part of the filling in the center of each rolled dough, and pull the edges of the dough to wrap the filling. Proceed to make all 8 balls grease with ghe
  • STEP 11.Baking Arrange the litties over greased baking sheet about one inch apart and place in toaster oven, for 10-12 minutes, turn them over and bake again for 10-12 minutes. Litties should be golden brown all around.
  • STEP 12.Serving
  • STEP 13.need about 2 Tbsp ghee or clarified butter for serving the Litties
