Lemag Recipe

It's a traditional Malaysian dish prepared from rice which is filled inside bamboo and is cooked for at least 3-4 hours.A combination of sticky rice filled with the aroma of coconut milk on each bite.

Ingredients for Lemag Recipe

  • 1 kilogram glutinous rice
  • 3-4 Nos coconuts
  • 2 Nos large Bamboo
  • As required Salt

  • STEP 1.Rinse the rice and drain off the water.

  • STEP 2.Place the banana leaves inside the bamboo as per the size of the circumference of the bamboo.

  • STEP 3.Then add sufficient amount of rice,make sure it doesn

  • STEP 4.T overflow with rice

  • STEP 5.Now add a dash of salt in coconut milk and pour it into the bamboo that has been filled with rice.

  • STEP 6.1.cook it at medium flame.turn the bamboo in every 15 mins just to ensure that the rice is compressed.

step 8

  • STEP 7.2.cook the bamboo for about 3-4 hours and then turn off the flame.remove the lemang from the bamboo.

step 9

  • STEP 8.3.serve the lemang with serunding or rendang
