  • 1 cup Yellow split moong dal
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 No.s Tomato
  • 2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Salt
  • As required Chopped coriander leaves
  • No.s Juice of lemon
  • As required Ingredients for Tempering
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 No.s Green chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida

Directions: Lehsuni Moong Dal Tadka Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a pressure cooker add 1 cup washed yellow split moong dal, 1 inch ginger finely chopped, 1 tomato finely chopped, 2 tsp turmeric powder and salt to taste. For a thinnerdal add 2 ½ cups of water for 1 cup of dal.

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles and turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.

  • STEP 1.If all the water had been absorbed by the dal add more water into the cooker to adjust the consistency and give it a light mash. Add chopped coriander leaves as required and add the juice of 1 lemon. Keep aside.

step 4

  • STEP 1.For the tadka , in a preheated pan add 1 tbsp ghee, 2 tsp cumin seeds and 4 cloves garlic sliced. On medium heat saute the garlic and cumin in the ghee for about 1 minute till the aroma of the garlic is released. Add 2 slit green chillies and ¼ tsp asafoetida.

  • STEP 1.Serve the dal in a bowl and spoon the tadka over it.
