Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peel and grate the bottle gourd. Squeeze out the excess water.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat ghee and add the grated bottle gourd. Cook until it becomes soft and the raw smell disappears.
  • STEP 3.Add milk to the pan and let it simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • STEP 4.Add sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts to the kheer. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Remove from heat and let it cool. Serve the Lauki Ki Kheer warm or chilled, garnished with more nuts.

  • Make sure to squeeze out the excess water from the grated bottle gourd to avoid a watery kheer.
