Directions: Lauki Chana Dal Tadka Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the chana dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped onions.
  • STEP 3.Saute until the onions turn golden brown, then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 5.Add the soaked chana dal, chopped bottle gourd, salt, and water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal and bottle gourd are cooked.
  • STEP 6.For the tadka, heat ghee in a small pan and add cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Fry until the spices release their aroma.
  • STEP 7.Pour the tadka over the cooked dal and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • STEP 8.Serve hot with rice or roti.
