Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils, water, turmeric powder, and salt.
  • STEP 3.Pressure cook the lentils until they are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, garlic, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 5.Once the garlic turns golden brown, add the cooked lentils to the pan.
  • STEP 6.Add water to adjust the consistency of the dal, and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.In a small pan, heat ghee and add cumin seeds, red chili powder, and asafoetida for tempering.
