Kurukku/Kalan Recipe | Kerala Sadhya Recipe INGREDIENTS Raw Plantain/ pachakkaya 1 no.s Yam/Chena 150gms Crushed Pepper ½tsp Turmeric Powder ¾ tsp Green Chillies 2 or 3 Water ½cup For Grinding to paste Coconut Grated 1 ½cup Garlic 2 no.s Cumin seeds Water ½cup Curd 1 ½cup Salt to taste Ghee 1tsp Sugar ½tsp Curry leaves For Tempering Coconut Oil 2 tbsp Fenugreek Seeds (few) Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp Dry Red Chillies 3-4 no.s curry leaves INSTRUCTIONS In a large pan / kal chatti take 1 raw plantain and 1 cup yam add 2 green chilli, ¾ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp crushed pepper, 1 cup water until it is cooked perfectly. Add the grind Coconut paste and mix well.cook for 5 minutes or until the raw smell from coconut gone. Add ½ tsp sugar salt and 1tsp of ghee and mix well. Pour 1 cup whisked curd. Mix well until the curry turns smooth and silky. Switch off the stove and splutter the tempering and pour over the kalan. Kurrukku Kalan is ready to Serve.
