An instant soft dainty fluffy cakes prepared from wheat flour,eggs and baking powder. Kuih bahulu is Malay-style egg sponge cake made with simple ingredients like eggs, flour, sugar, and a leavening agent. There is no oil used in the recipe, other than to grease the mould. Kuih bahulu is a traditional cake or snack usually baked in brass moulds which usually come in all sorts of sizes and shapes like fishes, flowers and most commonly, sea shells.

Ingredients for Kuih Bahulu Recipe

  • 150 gram wheat flour
  • 180 gram Sugar
  • 5 Nos eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • As required Oil

Directions: Kuih Bahulu Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Bake flour at 200 degrees celsius for 3-5 mins. Add sugar in a pan and remove once it starts melting. Now add the sugar into eggs and whisk well. Add vanilla paste. Add baking powder and mix. Heat the mould with oil at 200 degrees.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Now remove the oil from the mould and pour the batter into the mould and bake it for 8-10 mins until golden brown. Now remove the kuih bahulu from mould. Before baking the rest of the batter apply some oil and bake. Allow kuih bahulu to cool and then store them in an airtight container.
