Koova is nothing but arrow root powder koova is widely grown in the backyards of the homes in kerala the koova is harvested & then scraped & washed & finally rubbed to produce a pulp this pulp is washed in cold water several times until the sediment settled is pure white it is then sun-dried to make it into a hard ball & then the hard ball is ground to a powder which is preserved in an air-tight container for later use now-a-days arrow root powder is readily available in all the stores it has a very good medicinal value this powder can be mixed with water & cooked for a while till done & given to a person suffering from urinary infection or even small pox arrow-root porridge is given to infants above 6 months of age this halwa is made on thiruvathira(a special festival for women in kerala)in all the homes in kerala this is a very authentic & easy recipe that we have been making in our home for more than 20 years do try it out & let me know how it turned out for you.
