A spicy Konkan masala coated pomfret pan fried crisp.Konkani Style Pomfret Fry Recipe is a tasty appetizer that you can create for your Seafood Indian meal. Konkani cuisine shares a similar cooking style from the three of their neighbouring states which are Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Seafood are extensively consumed in this region.We have freshly ground our masala that goes on to the fish and pan fried till it well roasted and cooked. The masala has flavours from kokum, garlic, ginger, cardamom pod, freshly grated coconut and dry red chillies. We have ground coarsely to keep the light crunch on the fish as you eat.

Ingredients for Konkani Style Pomfret Fry Recipe

  • 1 Pomfret fish Nos
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Salt
  • As required Oil For Frying
  • As required Ingredients for grinding
  • 1/2 cup Fresh coconut grated
  • 6 No.s Dry red chillies
  • 8 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 inch Ginger chopped
  • 2 Green Chilli chopped
  • 2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 4 No.s Cardamom
  • 4 No.s Kokum

Directions: Konkani Style Pomfret Fry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1clean the pomfret and score both sides (make slits).this will allow the masala to seep in and marinate the fish.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2preheat a pan and dry roast ½ cup fresh grated coconut, 6 dry red chillies, 8 cloves garlic, 2 inch ginger chopped, 2 green chilli chopped, 2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera), 4 cardamom (elaichi), 4 kokum (malabar tamarind) till the aromas come through.

  • STEP 3.3transfer the roasted ingredients to the small grinding jar and add ¼ cup water and grind the masala to a smooth paste.

  • STEP 4.4apply the masala paste on the fish and in the slits. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.

  • STEP 5.5heat a pan and add 2 tsp oil, place the fish which is well coated with the masala in the pan and fry on medium heat. Cover the pan for a few minutes and allow the fish to cook through. Then carefully flip it over and allow the other side to fry. Turn the fish over once or twice more ensuing that the masala is cooked well.

  • STEP 6.6remove the fish from the pan and serve with sliced onions and lemon wedges.
