Directions: Khichdi Na Muthiya Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida.
  • STEP 2.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  • STEP 4.Add soaked rice, lentils, and water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • STEP 5.Meanwhile, prepare the muthiyas by mixing rice flour, wheat flour, spices, and water to form a dough.
  • STEP 6.Shape the dough into small cylindrical dumplings and steam them for 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Once the pressure is released from the cooker, open it and gently mash the khichdi.
  • STEP 8.Add the steamed muthiyas to the khichdi and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with yogurt or pickle.

  • You can add vegetables like peas, carrots, and potatoes to make the khichdi more nutritious.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
  • Make sure to mash the khichdi gently to achieve a creamy texture.
