  • 1/4 cup Rice
  • 0.13 cup Split Yellow Lentils
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds

  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Chopped
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 cup Water
  • As required Salt To Taste

Directions: Khichdi Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice and lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Drain the soaked rice and lentils and add them to the pressure cooker.
  • STEP 6.Add water, salt, and mix everything together.
  • STEP 7.Close the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles on medium heat.
  • STEP 8.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and fluff the khichdi with a fork.
  • STEP 9.Serve hot with yogurt, pickles, or papadum.

  • You can add vegetables like peas, carrots, or potatoes to make the khichdi more nutritious.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add ghee while tempering the spices.
