Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the toor dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the dal with water, turmeric powder, and salt until soft.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 6.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  • STEP 7.Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  • STEP 8.Add the cooked dal and tamarind pulp. Mix well and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
