Chickpeas (chole) in a tangy tomato gravy. Khatte chhole recipes is a very popular Delhi style street food. It is spicy and most famous tart making for a perfect accompaniment with Gehu bajra. This Sour Chickpeas curry is a tasty recipe in a curry sauce that is made with Green chilli, potato, tomato, garam masala and coriander powder which is a classic ingredients for any Indian curry.

Ingredients for Khatte Chole Recipe

  • 3 teaspoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Ajwain
  • 1 stick Cinnamon inch
  • 2 No.s Cloves
  • 1 No.s Onion Thinly Sliced
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 No.s Tomato thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 2 teaspoon Amchur powder
  • As required Salt

Directions: Khatte Chole Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak 1 ½ cups kabuli chana overnight and then pressure cook.

step 2

  • STEP 1.In a preheated pan add 2 tsp ghee, 1 tsp ajwain, 1 inch cinnamon stick, 2 cloves, 1 onion thinly sliced. Saute for a few seconds and add 1 inch ginger finely chopped and 1 more tsp ghee and continue sauteeing till onions are soft.

  • STEP 1.Then add 1 tomato thinly sliced and saute till tomatoes are just soft.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add 1 tsp red chilli powder,1 tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 2 tsp amchur powder and salt to taste. Saute to combine well.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Next add 1 ½ cups boiled kabuli chana . Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat.
