Kerela Beans Poriyal is a delecacy from the southern sate of kerela in the Indian sub continent. Green beans cooked in Kerala style with onions and flavoured with black pepper and some other aromatic spices. It is a very nutritious and healthy dish which is a trat to your taste buds and can be served with Indian flatbread.

Ingredients for Kerela Beans Poriyal Recipe

  • 1 inch Beans cut into s 300 gms
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaf
  • 2 No.s Onions thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • As required Salt

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a pressure cooker put 300 gms beans cut into 1 inch pieces, 2 tbsp water, salt to taste and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Turn off the heat and release the pressure immediately by lifting the weight with a fork or holding the cooker under running water.

step 2

  • STEP 1.In a preheated pan add1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds and allow it ro crackle. Then add 1 sprig curry leaf and 2 onions thinly sliced.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Saute till onions soften and turn light brown. Then add ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp black pepper powder and salt to taste. Mix well.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Next add the cooked beans to the pan and saute for 1 to 2 minutes till well combined with the rest of the ingredients.
