Ingredients for Kerala Vazhakka Thoran Recipe

  • 250 gram Diced raw plantain
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 No.s Dry red chilli
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 3 Green chilli
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds

step 1

  • STEP 1.Peel off the banana skin and dice into small pieces.

  • STEP 1.Soak in 1 cup of gruel water for 15 minutes to get rid of the stain.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Take an earthen pot for cooking. Take an earthen pot for cooking. Add diced raw plantain, a pinch of salt, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Steam with lid on.

  • STEP 1.Set a stove on the pan. Pour in 2 tbsp of cooking oil and splutter 1 tsp of mustard seeds. Add 2 sliced dry red chilly and a few curry leaves.

  • STEP 1.Crush 1 cup of grated coconut, 3 green chillies, 2 garlic cloves and ½ tsp cumin seeds in a grinder. Saute the ingredients. Transfer the banana peels into the mix.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Turn off the flame and serve the hot tasty side dish with the meal.
