  • 0.17 cup Grated Coconut
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, grated coconut, and salt. Gradually add water and mix well to form a crumbly mixture.
  • STEP 2.Fill the cylindrical puttu maker with alternating layers of the rice flour mixture and grated coconut.
  • STEP 3.Place the puttu maker on top of a steamer filled with water and steam for about 10-15 minutes or until the puttu is cooked and firm.
  • STEP 4.Remove the puttu from the steamer and gently push it out from the bottom of the puttu maker onto a plate.
  • STEP 5.Serve hot with kadala curry or banana slices.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the rice flour is of good quality to ensure the perfect texture of the puttu.
  • You can also add a pinch of cardamom powder to the rice flour mixture for added flavor.
  • If you don't have a puttu maker, you can use a steamer basket lined with a muslin cloth to make the puttu.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover puttu can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, steam the puttu for a few minutes until heated through.
  • Serve the puttu with kadala curry or any other curry of your choice.
