Ingredients for Kathirikai Gothsu Recipe

  • 1 No.s Brinjal large, cut into large dice
  • 1 No.s Onion
  • 2 No.s Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Tamarind water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sambar powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 inch Ginger grated
  • 1 sprig Curry leaf
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • As required Coriander leaves chopped A few

Directions: Kathirikai Gothsu Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1heat a heavy bottomed pan and add 1 tsp oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds and allow them to crackle. Add 1 onion chopped, 1 inch grated ginger, 1 sprig curry leaves chopped. Stir for a few seconds.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2then add 1 large brinjal diced, 2 large tomatoes quartered, salt to taste, 1 tsp turmeric powder, ¼ tsp asafoetida powder, 1 tbsp sambar powder and mix all the ingredients together.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3next add ½ cup tamarind extract and 1 cup of water. Mix well.

step 4

  • STEP 4.4cover the pan and allow the eggplant to cook on medium heat for 15 minutes till it is soft and well cooked. Add chopped coriander leaves.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5serve kathirikai gothsu with ven pongal for breakfast or dinner
