  • 1 tablespoon Ghee for roasting cashew nuts
  • 10 Cashew nuts halved or broken Nos
  • 3 cup Ash gourd grated
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • As required Few strands saffron
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • As required For garnish few roasted cashew nuts and strands of saffron

How to Make Karnataka Style Kashi Halwa Recipe

STEP 01

In a preheated pan add 1 tbsp ghee, 10 halved or broken cashew nuts. Roast on low to medium heat till golden and crisp. Keep aside.

STEP 02

Preheat another pan and add 3 cups grated ash gourd. Saute for 10 to 15 minutes till water evaporates.

STEP 03

Then add 1 cup sugar and ½ tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder and a few strands of saffron. Stir and mix well together until sugar melts.

STEP 04

Continue to stir and cook till halwa thickens. This will take upto 15 minutes.

STEP 05

At this stage add 2 tbsp ghee and stir it in. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring until the halwa leaves the sides of the pan.

STEP 06

Serve hot. Garnish with saffron strands and roasted cashew nuts.
