Loaded with spices and all things crunchy, these chips are super delicious and readily available in all parts of Kerala. Interestingly, Kappa Kolli is widely consumed even in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This Malayali delicacy is high in carbohydrates and irresistibly tasty.

Ingredients for Kappa Kolli Recipe

  • 1/2 No.s Tapioca
  • 1/4 tablespoon Salt
  • 0.06 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.06 cup Water
  • 0.06 teaspoon Chilly powder
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 1/4 Curry leaves branch

Steps To Prepare

  • STEP 1.Peel off the skin of 2 tapiocas and rinse well in water.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and soak it dry.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.First, thinly slice the tapiocas lengthwise.
  • STEP 2.Put 1 tbsp of salt, ¼ tsp of turmeric and ¼ cup of water into a bowl, and keep it aside.
  • STEP 3.Put a deep fry pan on the stove on high flame. Pour 1 cup of oil.
  • STEP 4.Once the vessel is hot, transfer the thinly sliced tapiocas into the pan.
  • STEP 5.After a minute of continuous stirring, pour in the mix to add some extra colour and taste to the tapioca.
  • STEP 6.Continue to saute it for another minute.
  • STEP 7.Sprinkle a pinch of chilli powder and mix it well to eat it spicy.
  • STEP 8.In the same pan, fry some curry leaves. Garnish the kappa kolli with curry leaves and your snack is ready to be served.

Pro Tip

  • STEP 1.Chilli powder is completely optional, varying upon one’s taste.

Storage And Serving Method

  • STEP 1.Perfect to go with a hot cup of tea or coffee. You can store these chips in air-tight containers for a few days.
