Kappa is also known as Tapioca Cassava. It is part of the roots and stems of a tree found chiefly in Africa. The root of cassava, which looks like a sweet potato, is cleaned, peeled and the chips are prepared. This crunchy and crispy treat comes with many health benefits and is easy to make at home. Apart from this, kappa is also used to make sticks and flakes. Kappa chips are usually prepared in two forms. Round tapioca wafers and crispy tapioca finger chips. How to Make Kappa Chips Recipe

Cooking directions

STEP 01

Peel the tapioca and wash it. Then, cut it into thin rectangular strips with the desired length.

STEP 02

Take 1 tsp salt in a bowl. Add ½ tsp turmeric and some water. Mix it well.

STEP 03

Heat oil in a pan. Once it is hot, add the tapioca strips into the pan. Fry it in batches in high flame. Stir it.

STEP 04

When the strips become crispy, add the saltwater solution (to taste).

STEP 05

Transfer it to a paper towel or perforated utensil so that the excess oil is drained out. ½ tsp red chilli powder can be added if required.

STEP 06

After the tapioca is done, fry some curry leaves and add them to the kappa varuthathu. kappa varuthathu is ready to be served.
