Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine khoya, all-purpose flour, and a pinch of baking soda. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
  • STEP 2.Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round balls.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the jamuns until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.In a separate saucepan, prepare the sugar syrup by dissolving sugar in water and adding cardamom powder.
  • STEP 5.Once the jamuns are fried, transfer them to the sugar syrup and let them soak for at least 1 hour.
  • STEP 6.Serve the kalo jaam or kala jamun warm or chilled, garnished with chopped nuts.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying the jamuns to ensure they cook evenly.
  • While shaping the dough into balls, make sure there are no cracks to prevent the jamuns from breaking apart during frying.
