Appam without yeast? Yes, you heard it right. Made out of toddy, Kallappam is a delicious Breakfast from Kerala. The main ingredient of this appam is kallu which is used as a raising agent. It is a type of south Indian food and can be made easily from the comfort of your home. Do you confuse Kallappam with Vattayappam? Then let's tell you that it's a steamed and sweeter treat famous in Kerala. In most Keralite homes, Kallappam and Vattayappam are part of Christmas and Easter with mutton stew, nadan chicken curry and tharavu roasts.

How to Make Kallappam Recipe
Cooking Directions
STEP 01
Add 2 cups of soaked basmati rice, ½ grated coconut, and ½ cup of toddy into a mixer grinder. Keep the batter aside in a closed vessel for 24 hours.
STEP 02
The next day, add 1tsp cardamom powder and mix well with the batter. Grease 1 tsp ghee in a baking pan and pour in the batter.
STEP 03
Steam in a double steamer on a medium flame for 10 minutes. Turn off the flame after 10 minutes and serve a hot delicious Kallappam.
