  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Jaggery
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 2.75 Ws
  • 2.75 Ns
  • 0.13 teaspoon Cardamom Powder

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked rice, water, and jaggery.
  • STEP 3.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the rice is cooked and the jaggery is melted.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pan, heat ghee and add cashews and raisins. Fry until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add the fried cashews and raisins to the cooked rice and mix well.
  • STEP 6.Finally, add cardamom powder and mix again.
  • STEP 7.Serve the Kalkandu Sadam warm or chilled. It can be enjoyed as a dessert or as a sweet treat.
