Kadhi pakora is a very common dish eaten in Northern India.While there are various types of Kadhi eaten across Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP and Punjab, kadhi pakora consists of deep fried onion pakodas dunked in spicy, tangy yogurt based gravy. Preparation is simple and can be cooked with basic kitchen ingredients like onion, besan and yogurt.

Ingredients for Kadhi Pakora Recipe

  • 1 Cup Thinly sliced onions
  • 1/2 Cup One cup of Besan
  • As Required Oil For Frying
  • As Required Spices
  • 1/4 Cups dahi
  • A Few ginger
  • A Few Chopped Garlic
  • A Handful Fresh coriander
  • A Few Curry leaves
  • As Required Green chillis
  • 1 Tbsp Desi Ghee

Directions: Kadhi Pakora Recipe

  • STEP 1.Mix the thinly sliced onions and besan. Add salt so onions start releasing water. After some time add water bit by bit to acheive a thick batter like consistency. Hardly 2-3 tbsp water is required. Add spices like ajwain, jeera powder, coriander powder, salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder. Form small balls and deep fry them in oil and keep aside
  • STEP 2.Whisk the yogurt and besan together to form a thick consistency. Add grated ginger, green chillies and sugar. Add some water and whisk it again to get a liquid consistency
  • STEP 3.In a thick bottomed pan, add some ghee and mustard seeds. Once the seeds splutter, add finely cut garlic, curry leaves and hing. Add the dahi mixture to the tadka and stir continuously. Add cumin coriander powder, turmeric and red chilli powder. Once the kadhi thickens and besan is cooked, add salt, pakoras ànd fresh coriander leaves. Kadhi is ready. You can add another tadka of ghee and dried red chilly with jeera for additional taste.
  • STEP 4.Note- You can omit ginger garlic. Also, kadhi should be stirred continuosly andb salt should be added at last to avoid curdling of dahi.
