Chickpeas (kabuli chana) cooked in a tomato and coconut gravy. This Punjabi chana masala or chhole chana is an authentic North Indian style chickpea curry made with white chickpeas, freshly cut spices, onions, tomatoes and herbs. Chana masala is naturally vegan recipe with added health benefits of the chickpeas which are packed full of protein, minerals and fiber.

Ingredients for Kabuli Chana Curry Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 4 No.s Garlic Cloves Finely Chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 No.s Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 cup Tomato puree
  • 1/4 cup Coconut milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 2 cup Kabuli chana cooked
  • As required Coriander leaves for garnish A few

Directions: Kabuli Chana Curry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a preheated pan add 1tbsp ghee, 4 cloves finely chopped garlic, 1 inch ginger finely chopped and 1 onion finely chopped. Saute till the onions become tender.

  • STEP 1.To this add ½ cup tomato puree, ¼ cup coconut milk, ½ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp chaat masala powder, 1 tsp cumin powder and mix well to combine.

  • STEP 1.Next add 2 cups of cooked kabuli chana, salt to taste and stir. Cover and cook on simmer for 4 to 5 minutes stirring intermittently. Turn off the heat. Garnish with coriander leaves.
