Directions: Jeera Pepper Sambar/curry Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook the lentils with water until they become soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Saute until fragrant.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and vegetables of your choice. Cook until they become tender.
  • STEP 4.Add tamarind pulp, sambar powder, turmeric powder, salt, and cooked lentils. Cook for a few more minutes.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or idli.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) for extra flavor.
  • You can adjust the consistency of the sambar by adding more or less water.
  • You can add some jaggery or sugar to balance the flavors.
