  • 0.13 cup White Vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Allspice
  • 1/2 sprig Fresh Thyme

Directions: Jamaican Escovitch Fish Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Clean and pat dry the fish fillets. Season with salt, pepper, and lime juice. Set aside.
  • STEP 2.In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry the fish fillets until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • STEP 3.In the same skillet, add onions, bell peppers, and Scotch bonnet pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  • STEP 4.Add vinegar, sugar, allspice, and thyme to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
  • STEP 5.Place the fried fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the escovitch sauce over them. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
