  • 0.13 cup Yogurt
  • 0.13 cup Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger, Grated
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Finely Chopped

  • 0.06 teaspoon Baking Soda

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, yogurt, and water to make a thick batter.
  • STEP 2.Add ginger, green chilies, curry leaves, salt, and baking soda to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 3.Heat an appam pan and grease it with oil. Pour a spoonful of batter into each cavity of the pan.
  • STEP 4.Cover the pan and cook the appams on low heat until the edges turn golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Flip the appams using a spoon and cook the other side until crispy and golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Remove the appams from the pan and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is thick and not too runny to get fluffy appams.
  • You can add grated coconut or finely chopped onions to the batter for extra flavor.
  • If you don't have an appam pan, you can use a regular non-stick pan to make the appams.
