Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in the Instant Pot and add cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, and green chilies.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add the soaked lentils, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  • STEP 5.Add water and give everything a good stir.
  • STEP 6.Close the Instant Pot lid and set it to manual high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Once the cooking time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Open the lid and give the dal a good stir. If it's too thick, add some water to adjust the consistency.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
