Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in the Instant Pot and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Sauté for a minute.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  • STEP 6.Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the Instant Pot along with water, salt, and garam masala.
  • STEP 7.Close the lid of the Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release the remaining pressure.
  • STEP 9.Open the lid and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
