Ingredients for Instant Pot Dalma Recipe

  • 1/4 cup Lentils
  • 1/2 cup Mixed Vegetables
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse the lentils and soak them for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In the Instant Pot, add the soaked lentils, chopped vegetables, turmeric powder, salt, and water.
  • STEP 3.Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 4.Once the pressure is released, open the lid and give it a stir.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves for tempering.
  • STEP 6.Pour the tempering over the cooked lentils and vegetables.
  • STEP 7.Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • You can use a combination of vegetables like pumpkin, raw banana, brinjal, and drumstick.
  • Adjust the consistency of the dalma by adding more or less water according to your preference.
  • For added flavor, you can also add grated coconut or coconut milk to the dalma.
