Traditional and sweet snack, made from rice.Each and every culture has its own Easter traditions.This recipe is served with a very sweet jaggery and coconut milk syrup.Easy and quick to prepare.Taste is also yummy.This dish is also eaten during festival occassion.

Ingredients for Indri/Inri Appam Recipe

  • 1 cup Roasted Rice flour
  • 1/4 cup Roasted Urad Dal
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • As required Salt
  • 3 No.s Shallots
  • 0.40 teaspoon Cumin less
  • As required Garlic A few
  • 2 cup Boiled Water
  • 3/4 cup Normal Water
  • As required Ingredients for Paal
  • 200 gram Jaggery
  • 1 cup Thick coconut Milk
  • 2 cup Thin coconut Milk
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1.50 tablespoon Roasted rice flour

Directions: Indri/inri Appam Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak ¼ cup urad dal in water for atleast 2 hrs.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Heat a pan and add jaggery. Add ½ cup water. Let the jagger melt completely.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Filter the jaggery solution with a sieve.

step 4

  • STEP 4.1 take a bowl and add 1 cup rice flour, salt to taste. Gradually add 2cup hot water and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps in it.

  • STEP 5.2 take a jar and add soaked urad dal. Grind it by adding some water in it. After grinding, transfer it to the prepared mix of rice flour.

  • STEP 6.3 take 1 cup grated coconut in a jar, add 3 shallots, ¼ tsp cumin. Grind it. Transfer it to the rice flour mix.

  • STEP 7.4 mix well. Let it rest for 30 mins.

  • STEP 8.5 grease a plate with oil. Pour batter on the plate. Cover it with foil paper and make tiny holes on it.

  • STEP 9.6 boil some water in a steamer and place the plate in the steamer.

step 10

  • STEP 10.7 let it cook in steam for 20-25 mins.

  • STEP 11.8 take 1tbsp rice flour in a bowl and add some thin coconut milk. Mix well to make a paste.

step 12

  • STEP 12.9 heat jaggery solution in a pan and add the thin coconut milk. Stir it continuously. Add the rice flour and coconut milk mix. Mix well. Add the thick coconut milk and a pinch of salt. Mix well. Turn off the flame.

step 13

  • STEP 13.10 inri appam is ready to be served with paal.
