Idli Sambar is one of the most popular south indian recipe. Which is enjoyed in almost every part of the India. It is prepared by a combination lentils and vegetables. And the best part about this idli sambar recipe is that you can serve it with rice, dosa medu vada, rava idli, rava dosa, uttapam and idli. This idli sambar recipe makes a perfect dinner.

Ingredients for Idli with Sambar Recipe

  • 4 Pieces For idli
  • 1/4 cup Rice
  • 0.13 cup Urad Dal
  • 0.06 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 0.06 cup cooked rice salt to taste water
  • 1/4 Litre For Sambar
  • 1/4 cup Dal
  • 1/2 Pieces Tomatoes chopped
  • 0.06 Cup Pumpkin chopped
  • 0.06 Cup Bottle gourd chopped
  • 1/4 Pieces brinjal chopped
  • 1/2 Pieces Lady finger chopped
  • 2 Pieces Curry leaves approx
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 A Pinch Pinch hing
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sambar masala
  • 1/4 tsp Jaggery
  • 1/2 Tbsp Tamarind paste
  • To Taste Salt as per your taste
  • 1/4 Tbsp Oil as needed
  • As Required For tadka
  • 1/2 tsp Tsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1.25 Pieces Curry leaves approx
  • 1/2 Pieces Dry red chili

Directions: Idli With Sambar Recipe

  • STEP 1.For idli- 1. Wash the lentils and rice, add fenugreek seeds and soak them in water for 5-6 hours.
  • STEP 2.2. Now after 5-6 hours, take out the lentils and rice from the water and grind them finely, and keep them for fermentation for 10-12 hours.
  • STEP 3.3. Then after fermentation, add salt to the better according to taste and mix it well, after that, grease the idli mold with oil and put it in a steamer for 15 minutes and cook it in steam.
  • STEP 4.4. Now after 15 minutes turn off the flame and take out the mold from the steamer and take out the idli with the help of a knife/spoon, the idli is ready, serve hot with samar.
  • STEP 5.For Sambar- 1. Firstly boiled the toor dal in a pressure cooker (4-5 whistles).
  • STEP 6.2. Take a pan or kadai add 1 tsp oil and heat it, then add mustard seeds, and all vegetables mix it well. Cook it for 5 minutes,
  • STEP 7.3. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, hing, samar masala, curry leaves, mix it well and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 8.4. Now add boiled dal in it and mix it well, then add tamrind paste, jaggery and water as per requirement. Cook it for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 9.5. In a pan heat 2 tsp of oil. Splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chillies and switch off the flame, then pour it in the dal and veggie mixture immedietly. Sambar is ready to serve. Serve it with hot idli.
