Ingredients for Home Made Egg Roll Wrappers Recipe

  • 12 ounce All purpose flour
  • 7 ounce Hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 dissolve ½ tsp salt in 7 oz of hot water.

  • STEP 2.2 in a large mixing bowl add 12 oz all purpose flour. Gradually this salty hot water to the flour in batches, mixing with chopsticks till the flour comes together.

  • STEP 3.3 then transfer the dough to a flat surface and continue to knead by hand till the dough is soft.

  • STEP 4.4 place it in a bowl and cover it with a plastic film. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

  • STEP 5.5 after 30 minutes knead it again for about 6 minutes until smooth.

  • STEP 6.6 cut the dough into half and divide each half into equal pieces (of 0.7 oz).

  • STEP 7.7 sprinkle flour so that they do not stick to each other.

  • STEP 8.8 flatten them by hand one at a time to make discs. Cover them with plastic film.

  • STEP 9.9 take 1 portion and roll it out by holding one side and rolling the edge of the other side using a rolling pin. Keep rotating the disc of dough with one hand while the other rolls it out. Roll out till it is a circular sheet of about 5 inches in diameter. Do this with two discs of dough. Make them the same size.

  • STEP 10.10 apply oil over one circular sheet and place the second sheet over it. It is important that the sheets are the same size.

  • STEP 11.11 continue to roll this out till it is a thin circular sheet of 9 inches diameter. Sprinkle flour while rolling if necessary.

  • STEP 12.12 fry this in a pan on medium heat immediately. Do not let them stack up as the sheets will begin to stick to each other.

  • STEP 13.13 fry for upto 20 seconds on one side till large bubbles appear. Flip it over and cook for 10 seconds. Remove the sheet from the pan.

  • STEP 14.14 separate the two sheets slowly. Two egg roll wrappers are ready.

step 15

  • STEP 15.15 stack them in a plate and cover with a slightly damp towel.

step 16

  • STEP 16.16 once all the dough is rolled out and wrapper are fried and stacked, trim the edges using a knife. Cut through the stack on four sides. Make a square shape of 6 ½ inches.
