  • 1/5 tablespoon Oil

  • 1/10 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/10 cup Jaggery
  • 1/20 cup Grated Coconut
  • 1/20 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • pinch A Pinch Of Salt

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Prepare the dough by mixing flour, oil, and water. Knead it into a soft and pliable dough.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, cook the lentils with jaggery, coconut, cardamom, and a pinch of salt until the mixture thickens.
  • STEP 3.Let the lentil filling cool and then divide it into small balls.
  • STEP 4.Take a portion of the dough and roll it into a small circle. Place a lentil filling ball in the center.
  • STEP 5.Gently fold the edges of the dough over the filling and seal it properly.
  • STEP 6.Roll the filled dough into a flatbread, dusting with flour if needed.
  • STEP 7.Heat a griddle or tawa and cook the holige on both sides until golden brown, brushing with ghee.
  • STEP 8.Serve the warm Holige with a drizzle of ghee and enjoy!

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the lentil filling is not too watery to prevent it from leaking out of the dough.
  • You can add a pinch of turmeric powder to the lentil filling for a vibrant color.
  • Brushing the holige with ghee while cooking enhances the flavor and gives it a nice golden crust.
