Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, ghee, and water to make a firm dough.
  • STEP 2.In a separate bowl, mix together chopped nuts, dates, and jaggery to make the filling.
  • STEP 3.Roll out the dough into small circles and place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.
  • STEP 4.Fold the circle in half and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  • STEP 5.Place the Gujiyas on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Allow the Gujiyas to cool before serving. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add cardamom powder or rose water to the filling for extra flavor.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a little more water. If it is too sticky, add a little more flour.
