A hot African sauce prepared from red chillies ground along spices,garlic cloves and lime juice.Harissa is a North African red chile paste or sauce made of a few simple ingredients including chiles, garlic, olive oil, citrus and a few warm spices.This versatile harissa recipe is slightly sweet, smoky, tangy, and just enough spicy but not too hot.

Ingredients for Harissa Paste Recipe

  • 20 Nos dried red chillies
  • 2-3 Nos fresh red chillies
  • 3 Nos garlic cloves
  • As required Some Lime juice
  • As required Salt
  • 2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper corns
  • 1-2 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions: Harissa Paste Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak 20 dried chillies overnight.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Dry roast coriander seeds,cumin seeds,white pepper and caraway seeds until fragrant

step 3

  • STEP 3.Once roasted let the spices cool down and then grind it.

step 4

  • STEP 4.Then add the soaked dried chillies into the jar and grind it along the spices.

step 5

  • STEP 5.Also add fresh red chillies,garlic cloves,lime juice,olive oil,salt and grind it along the other ingredients.

step 6

  • STEP 6.Consume immediately or can be stored in the fridge for upto two weeks.
