  • 0.33 cup Rice
  • 0.17 cup Urad Dal
  • 1 Tbsp tb sp chana dal
  • 1 Tsp tb sp tuwar dal
  • 0.33 Tsp sp mustard seeds
  • 0.33 Tsp Cumin seeds
  • 0.33 Pieces Lauki
  • 0.67 Tsp Red chilli
  • A Few arlic
  • A Few inger
  • 0.33 Tsp Baking soda
  • 0.33 Tsp Salt
  • 0.67 Tsp Sugar
  • 0.33 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • As Required Curry leaves
  • 0.67 Pieces reen chillies
  • 0.17 cup Curd

Directions: Handawa Recipe

  • STEP 1.First in a bowl or pan take 1 cup rice and ½ cup moong dal.
  • STEP 2.Add 1 tablespoon tuvar dal and 1 tablespoon urad dal. ...
  • STEP 3.Rinse a couple of times with water and then soak rice & dals for 4 to 5 hours in enough water. ...
  • STEP 4.Later drain all the water and add the rice & dals in a grinder jar.
  • STEP 5.Add ½ cup curd (dahi).you can grind the batter in batches also. Do not add any water while grinding.Mix very well. Cover the pan and ferment the batter for 8 to 9 hours or overnight.Rinse, peel and grate 1 small bottle gourd (lauki, ghia, dudhi, opo squash). You will need 1 cup tightly packed grated bottle gourd.heat oil add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,methi,Then add the ginger+garlic+green chilli paste. Be careful as the mixture can splutter if you have added more water when grinding the paste.add tumeric powder ,garam masala,salt,baking soda.mix well.Heat a pan and spread 1 to 2 teaspoons oil in it. Spread on the sides too. Keep the flame to a low. I have added less oil. If you add more oil, the base of the handvo becomes crisp and golden..serve hot or after cool down.
