A Rajasthani delicacy made with gram flour and loaded with spices to give it a royal taste. Gatte are gram flour (besan) dumplings, packed with dry masalas, steamed and then cut into small bite sized pieces. These Gattas are then cooked in variety of dishes. It is a popular Rajasthani cuisines. Rajasthani menus are predominant by vegetarian meals, thanks to its diverse vegetarian population. The state's cuisine loves oil and spice.

Ingredients for Gutta Curry Recipe

  • 1 cup Besan/ Gram flour
  • As required Salt
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 2.50 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain
  • 0.13 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1.33 cup curd
  • As required Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin/ Jeera
  • 1/2 teaspoon kalonji
  • 1 No.s bay leaf
  • 2 No.s red chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida/ hing
  • 1 teaspoon saunf powder
  • 3 No.s Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon kasuri methi
  • 2 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves

Directions: Gutta Curry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take a bowl and add besan, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, ajwain and baking soda in it.

  • STEP 2.To all these dry ingredients add some oil and curd. Mix it with your hands and now add some water to make a soft dough.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Cover the dough with a cotton cloth and leave it for 10 minutes.

  • STEP 1.Make small balls out of the dough and roll them into small cylindrical shape.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Put these cylinders into boiling water and let them boil for 20-25 minutes. Switch off the flame and let the gattas cook. Cut them into small pieces.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Put some oil into a pan and add jeera,kalonji, bay leaf, red chillies, hing, coriander powder, turmeric and saunf powder and heat it.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Now add tomatoes and ginger to mix it well. Cover the pan and cook it for another 6-7 minutes on medium flame.
