  • 1/5 cup Gram Flour
  • 1/10 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/10 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/5 teaspoon Ginger Paste

  • 1/5 teaspoon Sugar

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash the colocasia leaves and pat them dry.
  • STEP 2.In a bowl, mix gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger paste, green chili paste, lemon juice, sugar, and salt to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Place a colocasia leaf on a flat surface and spread a thin layer of the batter on one side of the leaf.
  • STEP 4.Place another leaf on top and repeat the process until all the leaves are used.
  • STEP 5.Roll the leaves tightly and steam them for 20-25 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Allow the steamed rolls to cool down and then cut them into slices.
  • STEP 7.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and curry leaves. Once they splutter, add the sliced rolls and cook until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 8.Serve the Gujrati Paatra as a snack or appetizer.

  • Choose tender colocasia leaves for better taste and texture.
  • Make sure to spread a thin layer of batter on each leaf for even cooking.
