  • 1/2 cup Rice Flour
  • 1/4 cup Chickpea Flour
  • 1/4 cup Yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Paste

  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, mix together rice flour, chickpea flour, yogurt, and water to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add ginger paste, green chili paste, turmeric powder, salt, and sugar to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 3.Grease a steamer plate with oil and pour the batter into it. Steam for 15-20 minutes until the dhokla is cooked and fluffy.
  • STEP 4.Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and green chilies. Pour this tempering over the steamed dhokla.
  • STEP 5.Cut the dhokla into squares or diamond shapes and serve with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and free of lumps for a fluffy texture.
  • You can add a pinch of baking soda to the batter for extra fluffiness.
  • To check if the dhokla is cooked, insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, it is ready.
  • You can garnish the dhokla with grated coconut and chopped coriander for added flavor.
  • Leftover dhokla can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
