In olden times to prepare this bhajiya/ pakoras .. soaked green moongdal was crushed to coarse mixture/batter in big stone pestle and mortar. Vateli means crushed in Gujarati. In modern times we use hand blender or grind in mixer jar to make pakora/ bhajiya batter.
