Easy steamed coconut cake. Jamaican Grater coconut cake is a candy made with coconut, sugar and flavouring. Sweet, sticky, rich and creamy all at the same time. Thin crust outside and pliable and gentle chewy inside. Very straight forward and simple to make. It is a traditional dessert with coconut being an integral part of the cuisine. It is excellent with both kids and adults in parties, picnics and all.

Ingredients for Grater Coconut Cake Recipe

  • 3 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Water

    • STEP 1.1 - add grated coconut, sugar and water to a pan.

    • STEP 2.2 - cook it at medium heat and stir continuously.

    step 4

    • STEP 3.3 - cook until the sugar starts coating on the sides of the pan.

    step 5

    • STEP 4.4 - turn off the flame and bring the pot down.

    step 6

    • STEP 5.5 - divide this mixture into 2 bowls.

    step 7

    • STEP 6.6 - add red food colouring to one bowl and leave the other one.

    step 8

    • STEP 1.7 - layer it up and its ready to be served.
