How to Make Gawar Phali Masala Recipe

step 1

Heat a cooker and add 1 tsp mustard oil, ½ tsp ajwain seeds and allow to crackle. Then add ¼ asafoetida and stir.

step 2

Next add 1 onion finely chopped, 6 cloves of garlic finely chopped, 1 inch ginger finely chopped and stir well for 3 to 4 minutes till the onions soften and turn golden brown in colour.

step 3

Then add 4 chopped tomatoes, ½ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder and salt to taste. Stir and cook till tomatoes become soft and mushy.

step 4

Next add 250 grams gawar beans cut into 1 ½ inch pieces, 1tbsp jaggery, and ½ cup raw peanuts. Mix well.

step 5

Add ½ cup water and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles only as the beans do not take long to cook. Turn off the heat and release the pressure by using a fork to lift the weight or by holding the cooker under running water.

step 6

Open the cooker and add chopped coriander leaves and mix. Taste for salt and spices and adjust accordingly.
