  • STEP 1.In a blender, grind soaked lentils into a coarse paste.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and the lentil paste. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  • STEP 3.Add coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • STEP 4.In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, salt, and water to make a smooth dough.
  • STEP 5.Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into thin circles.
  • STEP 6.Place a spoonful of the lentil filling in the center of each circle and fold it into a half-moon shape.
  • STEP 7.Heat oil in a deep pan and deep-fry the faras until golden brown and crispy.
  • STEP 8.Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
