Ingredients for Fried Chana dal namkeen Recipe

  • 0.33 cups Chana dal
  • 0.08 tsp Baking soda
  • 0.33 tsp Red chili powder
  • 0.08 tsp Black salt
  • 0.17 tsp Chaat masala or amchur powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 0.17 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/25 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 0.33 inch Pinch asafoetida
  • As Required Oil for frying
  • To Taste Mint powder -swad anusar

Directions: Fried Chana Dal Namkeen Recipe

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the chana dal after adding baking soda to it for 5 hours. Once soaked, drain the water from the sieve and wash the lentils with water.
  • STEP 2.Spread it on a clean towel and let it dry completely. Do not dry in the sun. Once the excess moisture dries up, drain the dal in a sieve.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a pan, when the oil becomes hot enough. Put chana dal in hot oil. And fry on medium to high flame while stirring it in between. When the oil is hot, put the dal in the oil.
  • STEP 4.Fry it till it becomes crisp and golden in color.Filter out the excess oil and keep it in a tissue paper plate. Similarly fry all the chana dal and take them out.
  • STEP 5.Whereas the fried dal is very hot. Take fried chana dal and put it in a bowl.
  • STEP 6.Add red chili powder, chaat masala, black salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida, black pepper powder, salt and more over it. Add mint powder. Mix well until evenly coated.
  • STEP 7.Chana Dal Namkeen is ready. Now you can taste this crunchy and delicious Chana Dal Namkeen! When cool, store in an airtight Container.
  • STEP 8.Tips ---- Soak the chana dal in enough water along with baking soda for 4-5 hours for best results before you start making this namkeen.
  • STEP 9.If you don't add baking soda while soaking, the lentils get tough on frying.
  • STEP 10.You can spread the lentils on a cotton cloth for half an hour. It absorbs the excess water and prevents the dal from sticking while frying.
  • STEP 11.Adjust spices according to taste.
  • STEP 12.Fry the dal in hot oil otherwise it will not become crispy. It will absorb more oil when it is fried in cold oil.
  • STEP 13.You can make chana dal bhel - mix chana dal, chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, lemon, coriander leaves and sev.
