A delicious and easy pan cooked apple cake.This is a simple cake that can be the base of many last minute desserts. Frost with a favorite frosting, top with fresh or canned fruits in syrup and a dusting of confectioners' sugar or serve with ice cream or sliced with a sandwich of pudding or custard. Almond, lemon, orange or other flavorings may be substituted for the vanilla and grated citrus peel or ginger can be added as variations.

Ingredients for Famous Cake With 1 Egg Recipe

  • As required Butter to grease pan
  • 1 Apple cut into about cm thick circular discs 1 Nos
  • 1 Egg Nos
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 7 gram Vanilla sugar
  • 3 tablespoon Sugar + 1 tbsp sugar for the pan
  • 60 milliliter Oil
  • 150 milliliter Milk
  • 150 gram Flour
  • 8 gram Baking powder

Directions: Famous Cake With 1 Egg Recipe

  • STEP 1. Grease a frying pan well by applying butter all over the inside base and sides. Sprinkle 1 tsp sugar over the base . Keep aside.cut 1 apple into about 1 cm thick circular discs and cut out the core from each slice using a small bottle cap.
  • STEP 2.Arrange the slices of apple in the pan on the layer of sugar .In a bowl crack 1 egg , a pinch of salt , 7 gm vanilla sugar , 3 tsp sugar and whisk sugar and egg are well combined and creamy. Gradually add 60 ml oil whisking continuously. next add 150 ml milk and whisk together well.
  • STEP 3.Gradually add 150 gm flour and gently whisk in it .Ensure no lumps are formed. Add 8 gm baking powder by passing it through a sieve. Gently whisk in it. Tastly add 1 tsp vinegar and give it a mix.
  • STEP 4.Pour the prepared batter into the pan over the slices of apple. Place the pan on low heat. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes. The cake will rise.
  • STEP 5.With a spatula lift the cake from around the edges it should be golden brown on the bottom and lift off the pan easily. Cover the pan with a serving plate and invert the pan to let the cake fall into the plate. The golden brown side facing up.
  • STEP 6.Then slide the cake back into the pan to let the other side cook. Return it to the heat for 5 minutes to cook uncovered . Turn off the heat. Slide the cake onto a serving plate. Cut and serve.
