Espetada is a traditional dish in Portuguese cuisine. In Portugal, espetadas can be prepared with different types of meat, as well as squid or fish, with monkfish being commonly used. Espetada is typically served with skewers of tomato, onion, and/or zucchini or other squashes.

Ingredients for Espetada Recipe

  • 680 gram beef sirloin
  • 6 No.s garlic cloves
  • 12 No.s bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Madeira wine
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 No.s Roma Tomatoes
  • 2 No.s green pepper
  • 2 teaspoon Salt

Directions: Espetada Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a bowl mix minced garlic, crushed bay, and black pepper. Now rub the mixture on the beef and place on a baking tray.

step 2

  • STEP 2.In another bowl mix the madeira wine and olive oil. Pour the wine mixture over the beef. Place this beef in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Preheat the grill to medium heat and place the beef chunks on wooden skewers and add tomato and green pepper and sprinkle beef and vegetable with salt.

step 4

  • STEP 4.Grill the meat for 5 minutes and flip. Remove the skewer when beef starts to become firm and juicy. Now cover and cook for 10 minutes before serving.
