Dimer Chop is one of such snacks preparations, which is also called 'Dimer Devil' / Egg Devil is a modified version of devilled eggs, where the eggs are not only stuffed with a spicy mixture, but also coated with masala, breadcrumbs and then deep fried till crisp. Egg Devil is actually result of the influence from Mughlai Cuisine, introduced to Bengali Cuisine . Serve Bengali Style Dimer Chop Recipe as a party starter with onion slices,Mustard Sauce ( kasundi).

Ingredients for Egg Devil with Kasundi Dip Recipe

  • As required Potato Coating
  • 100 grams * Potatoes Boiled
  • 1/5 nos * small Onion chopped
  • 0-1/5 nos * green choppedchillies
  • 0.40 nos * cloves Garlic chopped
  • 1/10 inch * Ginger finely grated
  • 1/5 tsp * Bengali Bhaja Masala (Roasted cumin and chilli powder)
  • 1/10 tsp * Bengali Garam masala
  • 1/10 tsp * turmeric powder
  • 1/10 tsp * Sugar/sweetener
  • As required * Salt (as per taste)
  • 1/20 cup * Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/5 tbsp * oil
  • As required Bengali Bhaja Masala
  • 0.40 tsp * cumin seeds
  • 0-1/5 nos * Dried red chilies
  • As required Other ingredients
  • 1 nos * Eggs Hard Boiled
  • 1/5 cup * Bread Crumbs (I used golden bread crumbs)
  • 1/5 nos * large Egg
  • 0.30 tbsp * Cornflour
  • As required * Salt and Pepper
  • As required * Oil for Deep Frying

Directions: Egg Devil With Kasundi Dip Recipe

  • STEP 1.* TO make the Spicy Potato Coating:
  • STEP 2.* Boil and mash the potatoes and keep it aside
  • STEP 3.* Heat oil in a skillet. When hot add chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent.
  • STEP 4.*
  • STEP 5.* Then add in the garlic, chillies and ginger and continue sautéing for a minute or so.
  • STEP 6.*
  • STEP 7.* Next add in the prepared bhaja masala, turmeric powder and garam masala along with a tbsp of water and sauté for 20-30 seconds.
  • STEP 8.*
  • STEP 9.* Add the boiled potatoes along with salt and sugar and mix it well with the prepared masala. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • STEP 10.*
  • STEP 11.* Finally add in the chopped coriander leaves and mix. Take it off the heat and let ir cool for some time.
  • STEP 12.*
  • STEP 13.* TO make Dimer devil
  • STEP 14.* Whisk the egg along with some salt, pepper, corn flour and 1 tbsp water in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • STEP 15.*
  • STEP 16.* Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl.
  • STEP 17.*
  • STEP 18.* Now cut the boiled eggs in half and keep it on a plate.
  • STEP 19.*
  • STEP 20.* Now divid the prepared potato coating into 10 equal parts. Now take one potato ball and flatten it in your palm. Place half an egg in the centre.
  • STEP 21.*
  • STEP 22.* Then bring all the sides together. Make sure that it has coated the egg completely from all sides.
  • STEP 23.*
  • STEP 24.* Now dip it in the prepared egg wash.
  • STEP 25.*
  • STEP 26.* Drain the excess egg wash and place it on the bread crumbs. Coat it well with the bread crumbs. Then again double coat it. Just dip it in the egg wash again and then roll it in the breadcrumbs.
  • STEP 27.*
  • STEP 28.* Place them on a plate. Refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • STEP 29.*
  • STEP 30.* Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan. When hot slowly drop in the egg chops.
  • STEP 31.*
  • STEP 32.* Fry them until crispy and golden brown on all sides.
  • STEP 33.*
  • STEP 34.* Serve it hot with kasundi or tomato ketchup along with some tea.
